Meet the Team
In a previous life, Peter had a successful career in banking and finance which culminated in a role as Head of European Acquisition Finance at the Bank of Ireland- he is also a Deloitte-trained Chartered Accountant. Now, as the founder of ECO Matters, he is concentrating on his passion for protecting the environment and working to reduce fuel poverty.
Peter’s priorities include equal opportunities for all, the protection of our environment, his local table tennis club and above all his family (including Maisy the dog).
Cathie initially trained as a computer analyst and programmer before taking a career break to run her own business while simultaneously bringing up her young family. Following a stint in Insolvency and Accounts, she joined ECO Matters in 2017 to look after our finance function before being promoted to Managing Director in 2018. Cathie has been on both sides of the fence- she had some insulation work completed at her property via ECO Matters which is how she met Peter and subsequently started working for him (she’s still not quite sure how that happened…) Her naturally ‘detail focused’ approach serves to compliment (and sometimes tame) Peter’s ‘big picture’ thinking and she keeps us firmly on track.
Outside of work, Cathie has a passion for horses and supports her daughter’s dressage career.
- Tim joined the ECO Matters team in 2019 but has known Peter for many years. With enormous respect for Peter’s stance on climate change, Tim hopes that his sales expertise can be utilised for the cause. Before joining us, the majority of Tim’s career was spent working at blue chip companies- in the beginning this was exclusively within Sales but he soon moved in to Project Management and Operational Delivery in the construction sphere. In his spare time, Tim likes to indulge his great love of cricket- he loves to play as well as watch and also enjoys walking when his knees allow!
- Gerard joined the team in 2019 following his move from an Invoice Manager position. He has a strong background in the financial and IT spheres and with 15 years of experience behind him, he wants to put all of his skills and knowledge to use while pursuing a new career in Sales.Gerard loves spending time with his lovely family- his wife and 2 children. He also enjoys music, cricket and football.
Olly trained as a joiner at the age of 18 and started his own successful carpentry/joinery business in 2009. He completed some work at Peter’s house which led to a beautiful friendship and him joining ECO Matters in 2013 as an installer. Olly was then promoted to Installation Manager in 2017 and does a great job of keeping on top of all things install-related while maintaining his personable approach.
Olly shares Peter’s love of table tennis and dogs (he has his own pooch called Meghan who occasionally joins us in the office) and enjoys getting stuck in to the occasional rally in his kit car.
Pete joined ECO Matters in 2017 (along with Sarah-Jane), bringing with him years of experience working in general building, roofing and solar panel fittings. With a great mix of expertise and a friendly nature, he is the ideal installer and always ensures that his jobs are done cleanly, efficiently and with a smile.
Pete loves fishing (when he finds the time!) and spending time with his growing family.
After a number of years in tourism where sustainability was a key interest, Sarah-Jane was offered a position with a solar organisation. As the government tariffs decreased so too did the number of solar installations, and companies where this was the sole focus of sales gradually closed. Fortunately, she was able to move to ECO Matters (along with our installer, Pete) in 2017 where her interest in reducing fuel poverty and carbon emissions could continue to be utilised.
Sarah-Jane loves to keep fit and enjoys swimming, running and horse-riding.
Janice joined us in 2019 to handle the complex paperwork required for our grant applications. She also manages her own successful equestrian business which has been running for 12 years.
Janice regularly competes with Cathie’s daughter in dressage events and also enjoys spending time with her family, including her three wire-haired dachshunds.
Sarah works with us twice a week as our AAT qualified bookkeeper. Having spent 15 years in the financial industry working with a variety of small to medium sized businesses, Sarah brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role. Self-employed for the past 5 years, Sarah has been running her book-keeping business while juggling family life.
Sarah somehow manages to squeeze in some time for running which allows her to indulge in her love of great food and the odd glass of wine at the weekend!
Rebecca works with us once a week and handles all things marketing. Having joined us in 2019, Rebecca is already making her mark with the introduction of our new website and is expertly steering us towards the right publications and contacts.
When she’s not working at ECO Matters Rebecca manages Flat Living a digital publication and website providing articles, information and advice for leaseholders, RMC’s and Property Managers. Rebecca has strong relationships with the property management industry, meaning she’s perfectly placed to spread the word for us.
Outside of work Rebecca spends her time either in Essex or Brighton making the most of what the seaside has to offer with her family.
Julie has a background in property management, compliance and all things office-support. Having joined ECO Matters in 2019, she is now supporting Rebecca on the marketing side of the business which is allowing her to utilise her more creative skills, develop her social media knowledge and delight with her strong organisational skills.
Outside of work, Julie spends time with her family, loves music and is getting back into performing as a singer since taking a break to have her daughter.
